 August 14, 2010 Annual Potluck | WF's Annual Potluck will be held at the Anderson River Park Gazebo from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. The Gazebo is covered and there are plenty of large oak tress to provide great shade. Bring your own meat, bread/buns (if you want them), drinks, and a side dish to share, the barbeque will be ready! |

About the Presenters
Nancy and Biff Barnes met when they worked together as writing teachers. Both have advanced training through the National Writing Project at UC Berkeley. Stories To Tell: Your Guide to Creating a Personal History Book. Biff is also an historian, and he has published extensively on San Francisco history. They reside in Redding, and their online business, Stories To Tell, helps writers across the country to create and publish memoirs and family history books. |
|  October 9, 2010 Guest Speaker: Charlie Price |  A Tale of Three Cities: The Aftermath of Changing Editors At a previous WF program, Charlie talked about changes in the publishing industry and the difficulties in changing editors mid-book. His new presentation chronicles that transition. He will discuss working with a new editor, withdrawing an already sold book, Hotel Oblivion, and looking for a new publishing house. He’ll talk about his new book, Interrogation, which has received excellent reviews from Publishers Weekly, Kirkus, and Booklist. He’ll also discuss the dealings involved in selling text and translation rights overseas. His first novel, Dead Connection, was published in 2006. Lizard People came out in 2007. His third, The Interrogation of Gabriel James, arrived in bookstores August 17 of this year, and his fourth, Desert Angel, will follow in 2011. All four will be published in French. Dead Connection and Desert Angel and are being translated for world distribution through Random House, London. A graduate of Stanford University, Charlie has lived in Italy, New York City, Oakland, and Mexico before settling in northern California. He taught high school drop-outs in Brooklyn, graduate students at San Francisco State, adults in management programs, and he has been a program director in psychiatric units, and an administrator in schools and hospitals. |
